The club was formed in January 2005 by a group of radio hams who wanted to operate in competitions and put on Special Event stations.
The club has it’s own shack at the Scout Hall, Stubb Lane, Brede, TN31 6EH and operates there mostly under the permanent special event callsign GB1FBS, so chosen for the club’s close association with the First Brede Scout Group. Members regularly meet at the shack on Tuesdays and the first Saturday of the month, however we would advise visitors to contact us first to make sure that some of us will be there.
Two club members are RSGB approved trainers and are able to offer all three stages of the licensing process for Amateur Radio. The club also has two approved examination centres.
We used to have a club “net” on a Thursday evening on a local repeater, which we are looking to bring back in the future.
To join or for any other enquiries please contact the Club Secretary.
This video from the Radio Society of Great Britain gives a taster of what the hobby of amateur radio has to offer.
